Terms and Conditions of Use of the iMed Application
- Tho We Are and What These Terms Govern
These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the iMed mobile application (“iMed” or the “Application”).
The Application is provided by MED LIFE S.A., with its registered office in Bucharest, 365 Calea Griviței, Sector 1, registered with the Bucharest Trade Registry under no. J1996003709402, having unique registration code (CUI) 8422035 (hereinafter referred to as “MedLife”), acting as the provider of the mobile application and operator of its digital functionalities.
iMed is a functionality available within the MedLife mobile application, designed to centralize, organize and display information that already exists or is available in the user’s account, as well as, where applicable, data imported from external devices connected by the user. Depending on the data available, iMed may display indicators, indicative aggregated lifestyle/wellness scores, and descriptive statistical positioning relative to a reference population.
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before accessing the services or products provided by MED LIFE S.A.
The iMed Application is intended exclusively for informational, educational, descriptive and indicative purposes. The functionality is designed to provide users with a centralized way of viewing certain health data and descriptive scores/indicators of an informational and indicative nature, including information relating to wellness and lifestyle, without transforming such data into individualized medical conclusions, medical recommendations, predictions regarding health status, or support for medical decision-making.
The statistical positioning displayed in the Application is intended solely to allow users to compare their results with the distribution of values observed in the reference population used for statistical purposes, i.e. to understand their relative position within that reference sample.
The iMed Application also includes the “iMed Insights” dashboard, which is connected to the MedLife blog and provides users with informational and educational articles and materials. The content displayed is general in nature and is identical for all users; it is not generated, adapted or personalized based on the user’s data, medical history, test results, symptoms or any other individual parameters.
- Indicative Nature of the Scores
iMED DOES NOT PROVIDE MEDICAL DIAGNOSES, MEDICAL TREATMENT, HEALTHCARE SERVICES, MEDICAL PRESCRIPTIONS, OR ANY OTHER FORM OF MEDICAL OPINION THROUGH THE APPLICATION OR ANY ASSOCIATED SERVICES. THE CONTENT AVAILABLE IN iMED, INCLUDING THE LIFESTYLE/WELLNESS SCORE, OTHER INDICATORS, AND THE STATISTICAL POSITIONING DISPLAYED IN THE DASHBOARDS, IS PROVIDED SOLELY FOR INFORMATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND INDICATIVE PURPOSES AND IS INTENDED TO PRESENT AND SUMMARIZE THE USER’S DATA.
THE LIFESTYLE/WELLNESS SCORE, INDICATORS, AND DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICAL POSITIONING RELATIVE TO THE REFERENCE POPULATION ARE NOT INTENDED FOR THE DIAGNOSIS, PREVENTION, MONITORING, PREDICTION, TREATMENT OR MANAGEMENT OF ANY MEDICAL CONDITION, OR FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF THE USER’S CURRENT HEALTH STATUS. The data provided do not constitute a medical interpretation, have no clinical significance, and do not establish medical diagnoses, disease risks, predispositions, or any other medical conclusions regarding the user.
THE SCORES, INDICATORS, AND DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICAL POSITIONING DO NOT GENERATE PERSONALIZED RECOMMENDATIONS AND DO NOT PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR CLINICAL DECISION-MAKING. The information displayed should not be used as a substitute for medical consultation, specialist investigations, or the advice of a healthcare professional. Any interpretation in a medical context is exclusively the responsibility of the treating physician.
Accordingly, the iMed Application does not recommend specific investigations, treatments, interventions, medicines, dietary supplements, personalized diets, or individualized medical courses of action. iMed does not classify the user as having or not having a particular medical condition and does not generate alerts when certain parameters change (e.g., changes in heart rate, arrhythmias, or medical test results outside normal ranges). Periodic updates to scores, indicators, or descriptive statistical positioning merely reflect changes in certain parameters included in the Application (e.g., medical history or manifestations reported by the user) and do not constitute clinical monitoring of the progression of a medical condition.
If you experience symptoms, have abnormal results, have concerns about your health, or have questions regarding your test results, you should consult a physician. In the event of a medical emergency, you should contact emergency services or your healthcare provider and should not rely on the Application.
- Access Requirements
iMed is available to users of the MedLife mobile application who have an active account and relevant data required for displaying the dashboards, scores, indicators, and descriptive statistical positioning. The availability of the dashboards may depend on the quality, recency, and completeness of the data available in the user’s MedLife account and, where applicable, from connected devices.
Use of the Application is optional. Choosing not to activate or choosing to deactivate the Application does not affect access to MedLife medical services that do not depend on this functionality.
The user understands that iMed is not intended for use in medical emergencies and should not be used for the rapid assessment of symptoms, abnormal values, changes in certain parameters, or other situations that may require medical attention.
- Data Used by iMed
Depending on the data available and the consents provided, the Application may use laboratory test results, biometric data, family medical history data, medical history information or other self-reported symptoms, polygenic risk scores or other genetic data available in the MedLife database, as well as data obtained from external devices, such as smartwatches, fitness trackers, or other devices connected via API.
Not all categories of data are required for every user. The Application may operate using different sets of data, and the absence or incompleteness of certain data may affect the relevance, completeness, or descriptive accuracy of the information displayed.
- Data from External Devices
If you choose to connect an external device or an account associated with a wearable device provider, you authorize the import into the iMed Application of data made available through that integration. The types of data imported may depend on the device, the settings of the external account, the permissions granted, and the availability of the third-party provider’s API.
MedLife does not control how the external device provider collects, generates, or interprets data within its own ecosystem. The accuracy of data obtained from wearable devices may vary depending on the device, sensor, positioning, calibration, software updates, usage, and other technical factors. Data obtained from external devices are not equivalent to measurements performed using certified medical devices and should not be considered medical-grade in terms of accuracy.
You may disable the connection to an external device through the Application settings or the third-party account settings, depending on the options available. Disabling the integration may affect score updates.
- Display of Information and Calculation of Scores and Indicators
The Application centralizes and displays available data in an accessible format.
Where statistical positioning is displayed, it reflects an informational, descriptive comparison with a reference population consisting of a sample of more than 4,000 individuals used exclusively for statistical purposes. The reference population does not constitute a clinical reference population and does not represent a medical or health standard. To ensure statistical comparability of results and enable meaningful comparisons between users, the calculation methodology applies uniform rules and predefined values associated with the reported information, consistently across all users. The calculation methodology is NOT individualized based on the user’s medical history, diagnoses, laboratory test results, treatments, or other user-specific clinical parameters and is not intended to generate medical conclusions regarding the user’s health status.
Where indicative reference points are displayed for biometric data (e.g., number of steps or sleep duration), they reflect solely the user’s historical average and general public health recommendations applicable to the adult population (e.g., recommendations issued by the World Health Organization). These reference points do not constitute an individualized assessment and do not replace the recommendations of the user’s treating physician; they are provided for informational purposes only.
The statistical positioning and reference points displayed do not constitute a medical interpretation, have no clinical significance, do not establish thresholds for normality or abnormality, and do not indicate the presence, absence, or severity of any medical condition.
The indicators displayed may be affected by incomplete or outdated data, transmission errors, differences between devices, the absence of recent results, self-reported data, external device settings, technical limitations, or individual characteristics that are not reflected in the available data.
Periodic updates to the indicators reflect solely changes to the data available in the Application or synchronization with the relevant data sources. Such updates do not constitute clinical monitoring of the progression of a medical condition, the user’s overall health status, or the effectiveness of any treatment.
Specific Limitations Depending on Data Sources
Biometric data (external devices). This section displays data imported from the external device (wearable) connected by the user, such as step count, sleep duration, heart rate, etc. The data are displayed in the form of a Biometric Report, as provided by the external device, and reflect the measurements recorded by that device.
Based on data accumulated over time, iMed calculates the user’s own historical average for each biometric parameter and displays the current value relative to this average, as well as in relation to general wellness reference points and general health recommendations applicable to the adult population (e.g., recommendations issued by the World Health Organization). The historical average may change as new data are accumulated and reflects the user’s own historical data, without constituting a medical standard or a clinical reference range.
The Application also displays an indicative aggregated wellness score, which summarizes the current positioning of biometric parameters relative to the user’s own historical averages and, where sufficient data are available, relative to individuals of the same age group and sex included in the reference population.
The score is exclusively indicative and descriptive in nature, similar to functionalities available in standard fitness and wellness applications, and does not constitute an assessment of health status, reflect a medical judgment, or indicate the presence, absence, or severity of any medical condition.
The Application does not interpret or classify biometric data from a health status perspective. The values displayed do not constitute clinically validated medical parameters, are not equivalent to measurements performed using certified medical devices, and are not medical-grade in terms of accuracy. Where indicative reference points are displayed (e.g., general recommendations regarding step count or sleep duration), these reflect solely general public health recommendations applicable to the adult population (e.g., World Health Organization recommendations of 7,000–10,000 steps per day or 7–9 hours of sleep per night for adults).
These reference points do not constitute an individualized assessment, do not take into account your health status, and do not replace the recommendations of your treating physician.
Periodic updates to biometric data and to the wellness indicator/level reflect only synchronization with the external device and changes in the user’s own historical average. Such updates do not constitute clinical monitoring of physiological parameters or changes in health status. The information should not be used for health-related decisions and does not replace medical consultation. Any interpretation in a medical context is exclusively the responsibility of the treating physician.
Symptoms and family history. These are self-reported by the user and may be influenced by individual perception and are not clinically validated. The presence or absence of reported symptoms neither confirms nor rules out the existence of a medical condition.
For the purpose of displaying the indicator and the descriptive statistical positioning relative to the reference population, symptoms reported by the user are aggregated according to a standardized calculation methodology based on predefined values associated with each type of symptom and its reported frequency, applied consistently to all users.
The resulting aggregated score is then compared with the distribution of values reported by the reference population and expressed as a percentile. The percentile represents the position of the user’s score relative to the reference population. For example, a percentile of 80 means that 80% of individuals in the reference cohort have a lower overall reported-symptom score, while 20% have a higher score.
The total number of reported medical history items is compared with the distribution of the number of medical history items reported by the reference population and expressed as a percentile. The percentile represents the position of the user’s score relative to the reference population. For example, a percentile of 80 means that 80% of individuals in the reference cohort have a lower overall score for reported manifestations, while 20% have a higher score.
The scores reflect descriptive statistical positioning relative to the reference population, based on symptoms and medical history reported by the user, respectively. They do not constitute a medical interpretation, have no clinical significance, do not represent a diagnosis, an assessment of health status, or medical advice, and do not establish thresholds of normality or abnormality associated with a position within the distribution. Personal and family medical history reported by the user constitutes contextual information and cannot, on its own, determine the presence or absence of a medical condition.
The overall genetic predisposition score displayed in the “Genetic Profile (Longevity 100+)” dashboard summarizes the individual genetic predisposition results already provided to the user as part of the Longevity 100+ testing, which were calculated for each condition analyzed based on the corresponding polygenic risk scores. To ensure statistical comparability, the individual results communicated to the user as part of the Longevity 100+ testing are aggregated according to a standardized calculation methodology based on predefined values associated with each result analyzed and applied consistently to all users.
The resulting aggregated score is then compared with the distribution of values in the reference population and expressed as a percentile. The percentile represents the position of the user’s score relative to the reference population. For example, a percentile of 80 means that 80% of individuals in the reference cohort have a lower overall score, while 20% have a higher score. The score reflects descriptive statistical positioning of the genetic profile relative to the reference population.
Genetic predisposition reflects an inherited susceptibility and does not constitute a diagnosis. An increased predisposition does not mean that a condition will necessarily develop, just as a reduced predisposition does not rule out the possibility of developing that condition. The overall genetic predisposition score summarizes the individual genetic predisposition results already provided to the user, based on a standardized methodology, and reflects descriptive statistical positioning relative to the reference population. It does not establish new predispositions, does not indicate the probability of developing any condition, and does not constitute an assessment of health status. The information does not replace genetic counseling or specialist medical consultation.
Laboratory test results. This section displays laboratory test results available in the Application. For the complete laboratory report and other documents or investigations, please refer to the Medical Record. No overall score is calculated for laboratory tests; each result is classified separately as being within the reference range specified in the laboratory report, close to the limit of the reference range, outside the reference range, or significantly outside the reference range. This classification reproduces information already available in the laboratory report issued by the laboratory and is provided exclusively for informational, data-centralization, and visualization purposes.
Laboratory test results reflect the state of the body at the time the sample was collected and must be interpreted exclusively by the treating physician in the context of the user’s medical history, ongoing treatments, and other relevant investigations. The Application does not provide medical interpretation or diagnosis, does not monitor or assess a medical condition or health status, and does not provide preventive recommendations. The information should not be used for health-related decisions and does not replace medical consultation.
The Application does not generate alerts or risk scores. Periodic updates to the data reflect only changes in the user’s laboratory test results and do not constitute clinical monitoring of the progression of a medical condition or of the user’s overall health status.
Completeness and quality of data. The information displayed depends on the completeness and quality of the available data. Missing, modified, or newly added data may result in updates to the information and statistical positioning displayed. Periodic updates reflect only changes in the available data and do not constitute clinical monitoring of the progression of a medical condition or of health status.
Scientific limitations. Medical and genetic knowledge is continuously evolving. Certain relationships between genetic factors, biomarkers, and health status remain under investigation, and current interpretations reflect the level of scientific knowledge available at the present time.
General information. Where general information is provided (for example, information relating to lifestyle or general recommendations concerning health, nutrition, etc.), such information is intended for the adult population as a whole, does not constitute individualized medical advice, and does not take into account the user’s individual circumstances. Its applicability may vary depending on age, sex, medical history, ongoing treatments, and other individual or contextual factors. Any interpretation in a medical context is exclusively the responsibility of the treating physician.
